Analysing work by Van Gogh & Sue Dove for inspiration in next weeks class at BA. Lots of similarities - dark outlines, use of complimentary colours, bold strokes of colour etc. we will be using thick threads and satin stitch to work our pieces.

The first half of the term in the class at BA we concentrated on line and drawing, after half term we will be working more on painting fabric. We'll start with looking at the work of William Scott. This sample was inspired by his painting Bottle & Fish Slice. There is one of his paintings in Cheltenham Art Gallery so I must go & look at it tomorrow when I'm there.

Silk painting

Just finished the silk painting samples for next week's class. Using a pot and mug with patterns in blue as inspiration I started with drawing and then worked it on silk. Added stitching for texture.
