I was inspired by seeing an exhibition of David Hockney drawings at the Holborne Gallery in Bath. His drawings and the quality of line were beautiful. Well worth going to see but go quickly as it ends soon I think. Most of the drawings were portraits and several were in crayon. There was one of some leeks that really caught my eye so I thought I'd have a go myself. The paper I used was a mixed media one so that it was strong enough to take many layers of crayon but I hadn't realised how textured the surface was. Think I need to try and get some good quality smooth paper. Any suggestions?
